A gunman who killed two people and wounded seven others in a Swiss factory Wednesday was a 42-year-old employee with no record of making trouble, police said.

At a press conference called hours after the shooting at the Kronospan wood panel plant in Menznau, near Lucerne in central Switzerland, police said the man had worked there for over 10 years.

The man, who also died, appeared to have targeted his victims, police said.

Six of the wounded were in a serious condition.

They said the man's motive remained unclear.

Kronospan's director told reporters that the gunman was known as a very calm individual.
