The UN Human Rights Council was forced Monday to postpone its emergency session on Syria for over three hours due to a problematic microphone system.

"The microphone system is still down. The meeting is adjourned until 3:00pm (1400 GMT)," read the messaging board at the council.

Called by 24 members of the council, including Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, Monday's meeting was to consider during the course of the day a draft resolution that "deplores the continued indiscriminate attacks on its population" and seek an immediate stop to "all acts of violence."

The resolution also highlights the need to "urgently dispatch an independent international commission of inquiry... to investigate violations of international human rights law in Syria since July 2011."
