Residential plan underscores Geneva housing crisis

Officials announce plans for a new environmentally friendly residential project in the canton of Geneva to add 1,100 homes in the municipality of Meyrin, west of the airport. While the scheme will be welcomed by many, it will take at least a decade to complete and will barely dent the ongoing shortage of accommodation that has made Switzerlands westernmost community the most expensive place to live in the country.
