Police arrest 90 in Zurich weekend violence
Some 90 people were arrested in the Swiss financial city of Zurich during the weekend after violent clashes between youth gangs and security forces, police said Sunday.
Police fired rubber bullets and teargas to disperse the youths, who caused damages worth between 100,000 and 200,000 francs, by smashing windows and damaging cars.
Most of the detainees are not Zurich residents and are below 25 years of age. Police official Daniel Leupi described them as "riot tourists."
About 50 of them are in police custody and due to appear before the prosecutor on Monday.
