Lausanne vetoes Swiss People's Party congress

Scheduled to take place on December 4 on Lausanne University campus, the national congress of the Swiss Peoples Party is scrambling for a new venue. On the grounds that the presence of the far-right party responsible for the minaret ban could spark violence, Vaud education minister Anne-Catherine Lyon upholds the universitys last-minute refusal to host the congress. Party officials claim discrimination.
