Freed American hiker left Iran for Oman: Swiss envoy
Freed American hiker Sarah Shourd left for Oman on Tuesday after she was released by Iran, Livia Leu Agosti, Swiss ambassador to Tehran, told AFP.
"I can now confirm that she is totally free and has left for Oman," Leu Agosti said.
The Swiss embassy has been intensely working to secure Shourd's release, which came after more than a year in detention.
The embassy manages US interests in Iran, as Washington and Tehran have had no diplomatic relations since the aftermath of the 1979 Islamic revolution.
