An unlikely upstart, Swedens Robin Soderling, topples world number one tennis champion Roger Federer in the quarter finals of the French Open, ending the Swiss players streak of 23 semi-final appearances at Grand Slam tournaments. Federers loss, which catches observers off guard, is the first ever against Soderling, whom he had defeated 12 times previously, and now puts at risk the Basel natives top ranking.
