Swiss chemicals group Clariant said Monday it will cut 450 more posts in Europe, including 40 in Switzerland and 180 in Germany.

Zurich -- Swiss chemicals group Clariant said Monday it will cut 800 more jobs, after already announcing 1,900 job losses in 2009.

The additional cuts by the end of 2009 and 2010 will include 450 positions in Europe, 40 in Switzerland and 180 in Germany, a spokesman said.

Clariant announced 1,350 job cuts in February and 500 more in June, most of which have "been realised," the spokesman said, adding that the group is suffering from a "difficult economic situation."

Clariant posted a second-quarter loss of CHF 61 million (EUR 40 million, USD 56.5 million) in July.

It warned then that measures were needed in 2009 and 2010 "in line with the company’s goal to close the performance gap to its peers and to adjust the company’s structure to the global recession."

I just hope that this effect of global recession be stopped by a strong perseverance of our nation. It is getting harder this days.
