Carragher unlikely to come out of international retirement

London, December, 19, 2007 (dpa) - Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher said the appointment of Fabio Capello as England manager is unlikely to make him change his mind and come out of international retirement.

The 29-year-old quit the England scene this year after what he described as the realization that he would never be able to win a regular first-team place.

When Capello was appointed last week, reports suggested the Italian would try to persuade him to change his mind, but Carragher said he was content with his decision.

"I'm happy with the way things are now and I get to have a break with the family as well," Carragher said.

"I cannot see that changing."

England may have to look deeper into their central defensive reserves for Capello's first match, a friendly with Switzerland in February, as captain John Terry may miss out through a foot injury. dpa
