Scientists at CERN take an important step forward in the study of antimatter, the opposite of matter, and the reasons behind its elusiveness in nature. Using powerful magnetic fields and generating extremely low temperatures, the ALPHA experiment traps 38 antihydrogen atoms long enough to prevent their destruction by matter and study them for the first time.
