Bardot ex-husband buried in private Swiss ceremony
Gunter Sachs, the flamboyant millionaire and sixties jetset icon who once conquered the heart of Brigitte Bardot, was buried on Friday during a private ceremony near the Swiss Alpine village of Gstaad.
An AFP photographer saw the family and guests gather outside a small church in the nearby village of Saanen in western Switzerland.
Sachs, the grandson of the founder of car giant Opel and a philanthropist and art collector, killed himself last weekend at his chalet due to sickness, his family said.
Relatives later released a suicide note to Swiss media written by the 78-year-old celebrity in which he explained he took his life because of an illness he dubbed "A".
Sachs, a photographer, had three sons and married a former Swedish model in 1969 after divorcing Bardot. He lost his first wife to a medical error in 1958, the same year his father shot and killed himself.
Bardot, who was married to Sachs for three years, told a German magazine Thursday she was devastated and shocked by the suicide of her former husband.
