80,000 refugees in Uzbekistan, 15,000 more at border: ICRC
The International Committee of the Red Cross said Monday that 80,000 refugees have arrived in Uzbekistan after fleeing clashes in Kyrgyzstan and that 15,000 more are waiting at the border to cross.
Pascale Meige Wagner, ICRC's head of operations for Central Asia and Eastern Europe, said a rough estimate was that "80,000 have crossed over" to Uzbekistan.
"We were still hearing this morning about 15,000 waiting at the Kyrgyz side to cross over," she added.
