27/09/2010Clements International expands to London (sponsored contribution)

For over sixty years, Washington, DC-based Clements International has provided insurance solutions to expatriates and international organisations. The company has now launched its first European office, based in London.

Initially providing insurance solutions to U.S. government personnel living abroad, Clements International now provides a broad range of both personal and commercial insurances in more than 170 countries around the world.

Dan Francis, Director of Clements Europe, explains that the company has evolved to fit the needs of the customers they serve. “We are very flexible,” says Francis. “We are not a one-size-fits-all business and our policies can be tailored to individual needs.”

As well as providing solutions for everyday individual insurance needs, such as health, property and auto insurance, Clements offers a diverse range of commercial coverage. Francis explains, “For example, we are the largest provider of insurance solutions to international schools, as well being a leader in the provision of commercial auto insurance to international organisations in Africa.”

First European branch

The decision to open a London branch came from a desire to better serve Clements European customers and to provide a localised base from which to grow the European business. “We have thousands of European customers and being in the same time zone, give or take an hour, as London has major benefits for customer service,” says Francis. “And with London being one of the major hubs of the global insurance industry, this was the obvious choice for our first office outside of Washington, DC.”

Taking the hassle out of insurance

The London office will also allow the company to develop its relationships with local European insurance brokers. “We will be working with local companies who are already serving the needs of the expat community in their area, but who may not have the range of products we have,” Francis comments. “We can help them provide solutions to their clients where previously they have not been able.”

Francis adds that Clements International may well add to the London office by setting up in locations such as Dubai and Singapore. “We are truly global,” he adds. “The aim is to offer 24/7 regional service to expats living around the world.”
