Switzerland’s museums take visitors around the world on Sunday, 17 May.International Museum Day
The International Council of Museums (ICOM) celebrates the 32nd edition of International Museum Day on Sunday, 17 May. This year’s motto, "Every museum is a new world", reflects an interest in developing new relationships between visitors and local communities.
Museums around the world will host contests, workshops, conferences, performances, stay open late and lead new tours between museums and local sights. Inspired by World Heritage tours and high-end museum travel, the aim is to encourage understanding. “For visitors, tourists and locals along with curators and volunteers, International Museum Day can become a bonding experience,” says Alissandra Cummins, President of the International Council of Museums (ICOM).
