The new guide book will cover trekking, cycling, canoeing and other outdoor activities in Switzerland.
8 April 2008
BERLIN - Switzerland has just published a new route planner covering trekking, cycling, canoeing and any other outdoor activities.
From April, a total of 6,300 kilometres of hiking routes and 8,500 kilometres of cycling paths will be available as part of the "SchweizMobil" project.
The project also encompasses 3,300 kilometres of routes for mountain bikers, 1,100 for rollerbladers and 250 for canoeists, according to Swiss Tourism at the recent ITB travel and leisure fair in Berlin.
For more information, see www.myswitzerland.com/schweizmobil.
The idea behind the route planner is to allow a "detailed and fast way to plan a tour that suits every taste and level of fitness," according to Swiss Tourism.
The planner contains information about every stage of the journey, accommodation and sights to see along the way.
There's also information about making connections with local public transport.
The online version will also inform holidaymakers about the best ways to arrive and depart Switzerland.
