Roads closed and public transport diversions on 21 July

The police are advising those planning to attend the national day celebrations to use public transport.

Extra metro services will be laid on and those travelling to the capital by car can park their vehicles at car parks outside a number of metro stations including Kraainem, Heizel, Delta and Roodebeek.

Motorists are advised to avoid the Poelaertplein, the Regentschapsstraat/Koningsstraat, the Zavel, and the streets around the Warande Park, the Troonplein, the streets around Brussels Cathedral and the area around the Wetstraat, Belliardstraat, Schumanplein and Oudergemlaan.

The square in front of the Royal Palace will be closed from 8pm on Sunday until Tuesday morning.

All bus services that normally pass in front of the Palace will be diverted from 5am on Monday until the end of the festivities.

Tram services that normally serve the Koningsstraat will terminate at Kruidtuin and Louiza.

Due to the Te Deum in Brussels Cathedral the St-Lazarus Tunnel will be closed from 6am on Monday.
 
Military and civilian parade

The traditional military and civilian parade will take place between 4pm and 6pm on Monday afternoon.

The Reyers Tunnel that forms part of the link between the E40 motorway and Central Brussels will be closed from noon on Monday.

The Jubel Park and Wet Tunnels and the Oudergemlaan will also be closed from noon until the end of the parade.

Elsewhere, a traffic ban will be in force on the Schumanplein, the Archimedesstraat, the Wetstraat and the Lambertmontstraat between 1pm and 6pm on Monday afternoon.

Traffic will also be banned from the Troonplein, the Kunstlaan, part of the Regentlaan, the Luxemburgstraat, the Montoyerstraat and the Belliardstraat between 2.30pm and 6pm.

The part of the Wetstraat that passes in front of the Federal Parliament will remain closed until after the traditional firework display that will be held between 10.30pm and 11.30pm.
