The poll was conducted Kwinten Lambrecht, who works as a consultant for the European Commission.
Some 202 people responded to his questions posted online via the social websites Twitter and Facebook.
Mr Lambrecht is a pro-cycling campaigner.
His findings suggest only a quarter of all the expats who use a bike to get around feel safe on two wheels.
Brussels expats are more enthusiastic about the yellow Villo bikes that allow you to rent a bike to travel from one part of the city to another.
A clear majority of the expats that responded say that Brussels should have more cycling lanes and zones that have banned the car.
A Brussels congestion charge commands less support and only a fifth favour greater tax incentives for cyclists.
Figures published in 2013 show that over 11 percent of Brussels’ expats ride a bike nearly every day, while for the Brussels population as a whole this figure drops to 3.5 percent.
