BRUSSELS — Queen Paola broke her arm last week while on board a holiday yacht off the Sicilian coast.
The Queen fell awkwardly last Friday and examing doctors discovered had broken her right arm at the shoulder and the wrist.
King Albert II and Queen Paola returned to Belgium on Friday night.
The Queen then underwent a minor operation to her wrist at a Brussels hospital ay about midday on Saturday.
She will remain in hospital for a few days to recover.
The King and Queen always spend their summer holidays aboard a yacht in the Mediterranean.
