Yves Leterme ready for institutional reform
Guy Verhofstadt has prepared a memo on institutional reform
8 January 2008 - Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt has prepared a memo on institutional reform. But it's his vice-premier Yves Leterme who will have to realise the programme. Mr. Verhofstadt is the Prime Minister of an interim government which is only addressing urgent matters.
Flemish Christian Democrat Yves Leterme will most probably take over the leadership of a permanent government by this Easter. The Prime Minister-to-be thinks that the Francophone Belgians are now ready to negotiate state reforms.
According to Leterme, the contacts between the party chairs, also across the linguistic divide, has improved.
