BELGIUM - The members of the Belgian women's hockey team will not be joining their male counterparts at this summer's Olympic Games in Beijing.

The Belgians were beaten 3-1 by the United States in the final of the qualifying tournament on Sunday afternoon.

The Americans had the upper hand for most of the match and took the lead on 18 minutes through a Doton penalty corner.

Belgium pulled one back through Van Regemortel and the score was 1-1 at half time.

The second half saw the Belgians create few if any chances.

The Americans took the lead again through Snow and Barber made it 3-1 just before the final whistle.
