GHENT – A 28-year-old woman who disappeared from her home in Ghent on Wednesday has returned, confirms An Schoonjans, spokesperson for the Ghent public prosecution office.

Traces of dried blood were found in the woman's home in the Rooigemwijk neighbourhood. The disappearance was initially classified as "worrying" and the missing persons unit of the federal police was alerted.

"The woman is back," Schoonjans said. "There is no further information about her condition available, but everything seems to indicate that the woman was in a very disturbed state."

Authorities are not assuming that the woman had any criminal intent. The public prosecution office in Ghent will release more information later today.
