While the doctors have their hands full giving the yearly influenza vaccinations, the number of people contracting the swine flu virus has doubled in the last months.

The family doctors in Belgium expect a peak in the number of infections with the A/H1N1 flu.

It promises to be a busy time for the doctors, with a lot of sick patients, and a lot of patients who will go to the doctor for the A/H1N1 flu vaccination.

Doctors are also busy administering vaccines against the yearly influenza virus, which has made its appearance early this year. The elderly are warned to be vigilant as they are most susceptible to complications with the flu.

Over the past week many youngsters have also contracted the flu virus. Statistics from family doctors show that 53% of current winter and swine flu victims are less than 20 years old.
