Walk on water: the new seaside activity
Throughout August, anyone wishing to have the unique experience of taking a stroll on the North Sea can do so inside a “waterball”.
Visitors to the West Flemish holiday resort of Koksijde have the chance to do something not seen since biblical times: walk on water.
The man in charge of the latest attraction on Koksijde beach, Rony Piesens of Boss Hoss Cycles, told journalists: “The balls have a diameter of two to three metres. You can climb in via the zip and then we fill the ball up with air.”
“Under supervision, the person inside can literally walk on water, although I must admit that the ball isn’t very steady over the waves.”
The balls were seen for the first time at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
The balls have been imported from China and Koksijde Beach is the first place that they have been used in Flanders.
A quarter of an hour inside one of the balls will set you back EUR 8.
