BRUSSELS — The Frenchman who was bashed into a coma allegedly by a group of skinheads in Brugge is returning to Paris.

Raphael Mensah, of Gabonese ancestry, was beaten and kicked allegedly by three racist youths in Brugge at the start of May.

He slipped into a coma after the assault and although he recently awoke from the coma, Mensah is still suffering serious side effects.

He has lost his memory since the attack and his jawbone was crushed, VRT reported on Monday.

Mensah is the director of a gospel choir in Paris and his family wants to stage a free concert in Brugge to thank Belgium for its support.
