Paris inspires MIVB bus shelter design competition for Brussels…

BELGIUM - The Brussels public transport company MIVB has announced its plans to standardise all bus shelters by 2018. In order to find the right new look, the company intends to organise a design competition.
The winner of that competition will have the honour to revamp all 2,200 bus shelters in the greater Brussels region.
Brussels Mobility minister Pascal Smet (Flemish socialist) recently visited the French capital. There, he noticed the new look of the local Ligne 3 which was reflected throughout the city.
Inspired by the Parisian example, Mr Smet now wants to implement the same idea in Brussels. “The design competition is to be launched shortly. Once we have a winner, we’ll start with the central lines and slowly integrate the new look in the rest of the city, “Mr Smet says.
