Two new IKEAs in Belgium
The low cost furniture chain IKEA has announced the opening of two new stores in Belgium.
A new IKEA will open in the Limburg capital Hasselt in the autumn of 2015. A second new store will open in Mons in Wallonia too.
The news was announced as the Swedish concern released its Belgian results on Tuesday. The new Hasselt IKEA should provide employment for 350 workers.
IKEA already has six outlets in Belgium: Wilrijk, Ghent, Zaventem, Anderlecht, Hognoul (outside Liège) and Arlon. IKEA's Olivier Baraille spoke of the goal of ten IKEA stores in Belgium.
The store in Mons should open as early as the spring of 2015. The furniture chain also has plans for a ninth store in the Antwerp area and is looking at possible locations for its tenth outlet.
