On Sunday police freed two teenage girls from a house in the Ghent suburb.

Judicial police on Sunday freed two teenage girls from a house in the Ghent suburb of Wondelgem (East Flanders).

The two, one aged 14 and a second aged 15, were being kept locked up by a local man.

The youngsters earlier ran away from a care home in Nazareth (East Flanders).

The two girls went to the suspect's home of their own volition.  They were both drugged.

It is unclear whether any sexual acts occurred.

One suspect has been taken into custody on suspicion of assault and rape.
