Tractors and traffic expected in Brussels dairy protests

Dairy farmers started their journey to Brussels at 4.30am on Monday morning. Heavy traffic is expected in the Schuman and Montgomery areas.

Tractors left Martelange at the break of dawn, travelling via Marche-en-Famenne to reach the capital. They are protesting against the absence of a system regulating milk prices.

Other dairy producers are expected to join the roads and delays are expected on the E40, E19 and E411 motorways leading into Brussels.

The Reyers tunnel has been closed since 9am and will remain shut until the evening.

Around a thousand demonstrators are expected to fill the streets outside the European headquarters where European agriculture ministers are holding a meeting on Monday.
