Toll from Belgian carnage climbs to six
The toll from last week's murderous spree by a lone gunman in the Belgian city of Liege climbed to six dead Friday when a 20-year-old student succumbed to his injuries, hospital officials said.
The young man was critically injured in the head when an ex-convict armed with grenades opened fire with an assault rifle on the central city square, crowded with schoolchildren and lunch-hour Christmas shoppers.
Two teenage boys, a 17-month baby and a 75-year-old woman were also killed in the attack, while the gunman, Nordine Amrani, shot himself.
Police later found the body of a cleaning-woman in her 40s whom he had killed earlier near his home.
