Three young women died when the car they were travelling in crashed into a bridge on the E19 motorway in Schoten, near Antwerp. The three were returning to the Netherlands after a night out at the ‘I Love Techno’ festival in Ghent (East Flanders).
Two of those killed were sisters aged 17 and 21.
The third was a 17-year-old friend of the two sisters.
All three women were already dead when the emergency services arrived at the scene.
Commander Anthonissen of the Schoten Fire Service told journalists that the car’s driver misjudged a slight bend and veered off the road before colliding with a bridge.
