BRUSSELS – As many as one out of 10 people in Belgium will be taxed incorrectly, it emerged on Monday.
The daily 'De Tijd' said tax advisors believed the latest tax returns contained numerous mistakes due to mistakes in advice given by the tax office and faults in the forms.
The errors would result in a "disastrous scenario", warned experts.
Between 75 to 90 percent of tax returns contain mistakes because the tax office has not updated guidelines after a lowering in taxes on foreign income.
The paper said the problems would be rectified next year.
