Sweden’s National Day in Parc du Bruxelles

Many Swedes will find themselves in Parc du Bruxelles/Royal on June 6, celebrating Sweden’s National Day. The event is organized by the Swedish Choir, the Embassy of Sweden to Belgium and the Church of Sweden in Brussels in cooperation with the Swedish Club and SWEA. Everybody is invited.
The event, starting at 18.00 by the Pavillion in Parc du Bruxelles/Royal, will treat its visitors to some beautiful music and choir songs, performed by by the Swedish Choir as well as the Children’s Choir and the Youth Choir from the Church of Sweden.

“The repertoire will be a mixed one, but with Sweden as a common theme in all performances”, says Mr. Åke Svedén, Swedish Choir Director and one of the initiators of the event.

The whole thing will be duly inaugurated by the Swedish Ambassador to Belgium Magnus Robach. “As far as I know, this is the first time we put something like this together. It is a very nice way of showing Sweden to the rest of Europe, and I hope many people will be there, says Ambassador Robach.

“It’s a given for us to join in the celebrations”, comments Reverend Pelle Sundelin, Church of Sweden. “We want to be where the people are. Personally, I hope that as many as possible will show up dressed in their traditional Swedish national costumes.”

Swedish herring with accompanying traditional beverages as well as something for the children will be available for purchase.
