BRUSSELS — The Liège public prosecution office made public a photo of the suspect in the disappearance of step-sisters Stacy and Nathalie on Tuesday.
Police want to speak with Ait Oud Abdellah
The man has been missing since the girls vanished early on Saturday morning and the public prosecution authorities are hunting him down.
The man has been identified as the 38-year-old Ait Oud Abdellah, born in La Hestre.
He has been urged to contact police as quickly as possible. Police have already searched the man's house.
Abdellah has in the past been convicted of sex crimes, but was released from prison on parole.
Meanwhile, authorities have also conducted new searches along the banks of the water body Ile Monsin.
Search parties will also comb the banks of the Maas River downstream to a dam, where bodies might have been carried by the flow of water.
Liège public prosecutor Anne Bourguignont said the hypothesis that the two girls ran away from home is now considered improbable.
However, she stressed that "you must always keep hoping that the children will be found safe and well".
