BRUSSELS - Trains between Brussels and Paris were running again on Monday after disruption caused by a man jumping to his death in front of an oncoming high-speed train.

A 35-year-old man jumped onto the tracks near Ath in Belgium at around 5pm on Sunday.

He was hit by a Thalys from Paris travelling at around 300 km per hour.

The train was stopped several kilometres later and its passengers had to wait two hours before another train arrived to take them on to Brussels.

The high-speed train involved in the accident was taken back to the depot by another train and the route remained closed until 10.35 pm when first one track and then a second were reopened.
