BRUSSELS — French utility Suez said on Tuesday it had obtained more than 97 percent of Belgium's Electrabel.

The announcement was made in morning newspapers on Tuesday at the close of Suez' offer for the rest of the Belgian power subsidiary it did not already own.

Suez also said the offer will reopen on 16 November until 6 December under the same conditions as it announced on 9 August for minority shareholders still wishing to bring their shares to Suez's offer.

The French firm previously held 47.09 percent of Electrabel's capital, but now possesses 53,321,774 Electrabel shares, bringing its total stake to 97.16 percent, Belgian newspaper 'De Tijd' reported.
