BRUSSELS - The 'Sport Merit' trophy 2007 has been awarded to the 100m relay team. Kim Gevaert, Elodie Ouedraogo, Hanna Mariën and Olivia Borlée got a bronze medal at the World Championships in Osaka, Japan.

The Sport Merit trophy is generally only awarded to an athlete one time in the course of his or her career. Last year Tia Hellebaut and Kim Gevaert got the trophy. It is unusual for Kim Gevaert to get the trophy again, but this time it was for her role as part of the relay team.

The Belgian 100m relay team ran an outstanding race in Osaka. In the finals they ended third, after the United States and Jamaica. With their time of 42"75 they bettered the Belgian record as well.
