BRUSSELS — Brussels Court has refused to annul a contract awarding Belgacom Skynet the rights to broadcast Belgian soccer matches.'

The court dismissed the objections raised by rival firms BeTV and Telenet, newspaper 'De Tijd' reported on Thursday.

Telenet subsidiary PayTVCo and its Wallonian partner BeTV took legal action to suspend the Skynet contract, claiming its existing agreement had been breached.

PayTVCo and BeTV held the rights for the past three years in a contract that gave them the opportunity to place a 10 percent higher offer should a rival also bid for the football rights.

Both PayTVCo and BeTV claimed their offer was later ignored and demanded the Skynet contract be declared null and void.

However, Brussels Court dismissed their claims on Thursday.
