Seven injured in Ghent bus crash

7 September 2006, BRUSSELS — Seven people were injured on Thursday in a collision between a bus and a car on the Dampoort in Gent, police and public transport authority De Lijn said.

BRUSSELS — Seven people were injured on Thursday in a collision between a bus and a car on the Dampoort in Gent, police and public transport authority De Lijn said. 

It is not yet certain what caused the crash.

Police said the driver of the bus and four passengers were injured. The driver and a passenger in the car were also injured.

But police also said the number of injured could increase, news agency Belga reported.

Flemish transport authority De Lijn said six people were slightly hurt in the accident and one person suffered serious injuries.

The seriously injured person was identified as a woman. She was travelling in the car.

Inquiries are being conducted into the circumstances of the accident.
