BRUSSELS — SN Brussels Airlines is offering five new routes for the winter, bringing the number of its European destinations to 55 and intercontinental flights to 20.

Born from the ashes of predecessor Sabena's bankruptcy, SN Brussels launched its new non-stop Brussels-Toronto service on Monday. It was the first new long-haul route at Zaventem Airport in five years.

SN has also launched its first flight between Brussels and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. Both new routes are being operated by SN's partner, Etihad Airways.

The Brussels-Abu Dhabi route is the only direct connection between the European capital and the booming Gulf Region, SN said. Dubai is accessible by bus from Abu Dhabi.

In other flights, SN Brussels also added Glasgow in Scotland to its winter timetable for the first time and is also offering direct services to Sofia, Bulgaria.

The 5th route will allow travellers to fly to Aarhus in Jutland (Denmark). The flight is being operated in co-operation with partner British Airways / SunAir Scandinavia.

Frequencies to Moscow Domodedovo Airport, London Gatwick and Prague have been increased, while additional flights will be offered to Turin in northern Italy during the 2006 Winter Olympics.
