BRUSSELS – The trial of 55-year-old Bernard Ntuyahaga started in the Brussels court today.
The Rwandan major is on trial for the murder of ten Belgian UN peace-keepers and the Rwandan prime minister at the time on 7 April 1994. He will also have to answer for a series of other killings in the capital Kigali and the Rwandan province of Butare. The case is receiving extensive coverage in the media.
Ntuyahaga has been in prison in Belgium since 2004. The trial is expected to last at least eight weeks.
