Royal wedding at Mechelen

Marie Christine of Austria marries the Belgian Count Rodolphe de Limburg Stirum.

Archduchess Marie Christine of Austria on Saturday married the Belgian Count Rodolphe de Limburg Stirum in Mechelen (Antwerp). The dowager Queen Fabiola, Princess Astrid and Prince Filip represented the Belgian royal family.

Representatives of the royal houses of Luxembourg and Lichtenstein were also there.

The bride's dress was designed by Ives Dooms.

After a ceremony at Mechelen city hall the party travelled to the Saint Rombout's Cathedral.

The Belgian Primate Cardinal Godfried Danneels led the religious ceremony. The couple chose to say their vows in French.
