Retirement home murder: Victim was killer’s godfather
The burglary of the Brugmann retirement home in Uccle last Thursday, which cost 61 year old Hubert Bodvin his life, is turning out to be more complicated than originally thought.
La Dernière Heure has revealed that the victim, Bodvin, and the killer, Joffrey, did not only know each other from the same gym, Bodvin was godfather to his murderer.
It would be difficult, thus, for the suspect to deny any prior knowledge of his victim. Joffrey, who was already serving a prison sentence, was allowed to spend some days in public, as long as he reported back to Saint-Gilles prison in the evening, and took advantage of this freedom to carry out the retirement home robberies. Joffrey and his accomplice did not get away with hundreds of Euros as originally thought but thousands, having hoped to escape with EUR 40,000 in hand.
The public prosecutors office in Brussels has refused to comment as the investigation is still ongoing.
