Rail delays in East Flanders
Train services on the Dendermonde to Ghent railway with suffer delays until the evening rush hour after overhead cables broke at just outside Dendermonde station.
60 passengers had to be evacuated from a train that had become stranded when the power lines snapped on Wednesday morning.
The incident happened just outside Dendermonde station. Trains will be forced to use one track in both directions while the overhead power supply is fixed.
In the meantime, the company responsible for Belgium's rail infrastructure Infrabel has said that the disruption to services will continue until the evening rush hour as the damage is "worse than initially thought".
Passengers should expect delays of between 10 and 15 minutes. A total of five services have been partially or completely cancelled.
