BRUSSELS – The police have raided several homes in Belgium as part of an international operation to dismantle a major child porn ring, the EU police agency Europol said on Thursday.

The operation, code-named 'Odyssey', involved co-ordinated police raids in ten countries including Belgium.

During the raids, police officers confiscated computers, videos and other media containing pornographic images of children, Europol said.

"Around 40 suspects are currently either being held in custody or being questioned by the police. But that number could change as the enquiry is ongoing," a Europol spokesman said.

The other countries targeted in the operation were Germany, which led the raids, Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
