BRUSSELS – A brief power outage at Zaventem airport this morning caused some disruption of services. Between 10.53 and 11.35 am a number of systems were put out of operation, Brussels Airport Company (BAC) reports. Air traffic control was not affected and the airport has been fully operational again since 11.35 am. The cause for the outage is still not known.

The power outage affected all electrical systems in the passenger terminal. Some systems, like the lighting, were able to be started up again quickly thanks to emergency generators. Others however, like check-in, border control, security checks and baggage handling were temporarily suspended.

The flights scheduled to depart between 10.53 and 11.35 am suffered slight delays, but no other aviation was affected, a spokesperson for the airport reported.
