Pay what you like at 'The Come Back'
A new restaurant, opened on Monday in St Vincent Street in Evere, will allow customers to decide how much they are prepared to pay for their meal.
Rudy De Bruyne of 'The Come Back' told De Standaard that he hopes people will be prepared to pay at least 12 euros for their meal.
‘The Come Back’ lets you put together a three-course meal from a carefully chosen menu. Customers decide themselves how much they think the meal is worth. The drinks are the only thing on the menu that have a set price.
Mr De Bruyne told the paper that a similar restaurant in Montréal in Canada saw profits rise by 14% after it had introduced the "pay what you like" system.
He also hopes that the new formula will give more people the chance to dine out in these times of economic recession.
However, Luc De Bauw of the Flemish Hotel, Catering and Licensed Victuallers Association has his reservations about the "pay what you like" concept.
