OSTEND – The dead infant washed ashore on the beach at Ostend 10 days ago has been given a name.

The city executive of Ostend decided to name the boy Wout Xander Aaron.

The names chosen were the most popular names for newborn boys this year.

The city initially announced it would not name the child since the mother might still turn up.

But Belgian law does not allow a body to be buried without a name. The parents have never been found.
