On your marks... get set... Mo!
Gentlemen across the World are preparing to dedicate their upper lips for a month of moustache growth as the phenomenon that is Movember is all set to launch its 2010 campaign.Movember involves true gentlemen, or ‘Mo Bros’, with help from their female supporters, ‘Mo Sistas’, growing a ‘Mo’ (Australian slang for a moustache) throughout the month formerly known as November The aim: to raise money for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer.
The charity initiative, which aims to change the face of men’s health, sees Mo Bros start Movember with a clean-shaven face and for the rest of the month individuals groom, trim and wax their way to a fine moustache, whilst raising money and awareness to benefit men’s health.
Movember events will be taking place all over Brussels culminating at the end of the month with Gala ‘Partés’ to award the prestigious ‘Man of Movember’ title.
Behind the fun, there is a serious message. Prostate cancer is now the most common cancer diagnosed in men; every hour at least one man dies from the disease in the UK alone. Over 10,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in Belgium every year. Movember is part of a global fight against the disease, and drives to ensure that all men avail themselves of the facts, stay aware and empower themselves to take care of their health.
Movember began with just 30 friends in Australia in 2003 and has grown globally raising more than €30 million in 2009. This year we hope to launch Movember in Belgium bigger and better than before and we need your help!
