BRUSSELS - The American Boeing that crashed at Zaventem Airport, near Brussels last month was not carrying weapons or munitions.
The Brussels judicial authorities confirmed that the plane was not carrying arms in a statement issued on Wednesday.
The plane's cargo was part military and part diplomatic.
The cargo that was destined for the US military has been inspected by the judicial authorities.
It was found to contain office chairs, arm rests, military uniforms and cars for embassy staff.
The precise cause of the crash is still not known. The accident happened just as the plane was taking off. An initial investigation into the cause of the crash has already been completed. A second investigation will follow.
According to the judicial authorities, it will be several months before a final report on the circumstances surrounding the crash is ready.
