BRUSSELS – There is no postal delivery today in the provinces of Limburg and Antwerp. Members of the socialist trade union ACOD are blocking the post sorting centre Antwerp X on the Noorderlaan in Antwerp. Newspapers will be delivered.

The union hopes the action will make its displeasure at the rapid reorganisation among postal employees clear. Postal services will operate normally throughout the rest of the country.

"This is a very forceful means of discussing what has already been discussed," says Fred Lens, spokesperson for the Post. "We have been negotiating for a year already. The reorganisation was initially supposed to be carried out before the summer, but was postponed to September. We don't understand why they are reaching for this forceful instrument. Besides, no jobs are being lost, this only involves a shift in positions," Lens added.

The spokesperson fears that not all of today's post will be able to be delivered tomorrow either. "The post deliverers will do what they can," Lens said.
